DARK BITES 3

DARK BITES is a new writing event: A curated selection of macabre and unsettling stories by Sussex writers, read aloud by actors. We have brought eleven chilling new tales from page to stage. Following our sold out debut at The Actors Pub Theatre on 17th Feb 2023, we took DARK BITES 2 to Theatre Royal Brighton, for 5 sold out shows over Halloween 2023. Dark Bites will return in 2025. . ..

Our Selected Writers and 'Bites' for DARK BITES 3 are:

'Changeling' by Sylvie Jane Lewis

'Exceptional Soup' by Ann MacDonald

'The Selkie' by Emma Kelly

'Intelligent Design' by Pippa Simmonds

'Dark and Stormy' by Isaac Freeman

Themes of 'Metamorphosis and Revenge' connect our five selected pieces. A chilling Gothic encounter with changelings, a wickedly dark comedy about a missing child, the legend of a girl compelled to swim naked in the ocean against her father's wishes, a dystopian world blurring the lines between man and artificial intelligence and a 'dark and stormy' love affair.

Take part in BRIGHTON 24 HOUR PLAY FESTIVAL

LOOKING FOR  WRITERS, ACTORS & DIRECTORS.

We are inviting 5 writers, 5 directors, and a bunch of talented actors from Brighton to live on the edge! They have only 24 hours to write, rehearse, and perform 5 new mini plays on the stage of the Theatre Royal Brighton.

At 7pm, the night before the show, names are drawn, and writers are assigned a cast, a director, a theme, and a prop. They will stay up all night writing, and hand over their scripts at 7am the next morning. 5 creative teams will rehearse at the theatre all day, bringing the brand-new scripts to life, until the 7pm show deadline! The audience will have the rare opportunity to get close to the action, sitting on stage with the actors during this nail-biting performance. What could go wrong?'

This is a fundraising event for theatre projects. There is no fee and food will be provided. Emphasis is on fun, collaboration, and creativity.
